Music: I love Classical, Rock/jazz, Avante Garde music. Classical. I love Stravinsky, Mahler and Vaughan Williams. Rock: I have over 120 unofficial Jimi Hendrix recordings. Avante Garde: Karlheinze Stockhausen (his electronic and tape pieces). Gyorgy Ligeti (his Requiem -unearthly music used in "2001 a Space Odyssey" film)TV: Father Ted; Doctor Who; Time Team ( archaeology ); Life on Mars; Mad Men. I Love Lucy; Bewitched -starring Elizabeth Montgomery. Family Guy & Futurama. The Flintstones.Books: "Count Belisarius" ( a historical novel by Robert graves about the Eastern Roman Empire) also "King Jesus" by Robert Graves. "The Lord of the Rings" by Tolkien. Shakespeare. "The Canterbury Tales" by Geoffrey Chaucer. "The Age of Arthur" history of post Roman Britain by John Morris. "The Good Beer Guide" produced by the Campaign for Real Ale.Sports: Formula 1 Grand Prix -Lewis Hamilton. I liked to watch on TV football matches of Leeds United and Nottingham Forest when Brian Clough was the manager.Interests: I love going to the theatre, many times each year. This year I saw David Tennant (Doctor Who) play Hamlet. Two days ago I saw Ian Mckellen, Patrick Stewart and Simon Callow in "Waiting for Godot" by Beckett. I have seen Ian Mckellen ( Gandalph in "The Lord of the Rings" films)21 times at the theatre over the last 20 years and he is one of my favourite actors. I love music of all kinds and go to classical and rock concerts. I met Karlheinz Stockhausen before he died. I am going to see Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull in London in May. I like reading poetry and novels. I have a great interest in history and other cultures around the world. I especially like the 17th century and the time of King Charles 1st ( see the pictures on my profile of King Charles. I like old buildings , palaces. castles. I like planting flowers and vegetables in my garden. I am quite a good cook. I make my own cider from the apples from my garden. I am a gourmet beer taster. I love specialist beers from the UK ( bitter, mild, stout and cider), Ales from Belgium and black lagers and ales from Germany .I love travelling and meeting different people and having a good time with good conversation.Movies: Oh Mr Porter (1936 film starring Will Hay); The Marx Brothers "Duck Soup"; "The Naked Truth" starring Peter Sellers; " 2001 a space Odyssey" and "Dr Strangelove" both directed by Stanley Kubrick; "The Producers" directed by Mel Brooks; "Tin Men" starring Richard Dreyfuss; "The Wizzard of Oz" starring Judy Garland. "Safety last" and "The Freshman" starring Harold Lloyd. "Monsieur Hulots Holiday" starring and directed by Jaques Tatti. I also like Sean Penn, especially in his latest film "Milk".
